da jogodeouro: Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is someone who would add a different dimension to Tottenham’s midfield, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Lowdown: Maddison linked with Spurs
da luck: Spurs did some good summer transfer business, bringing in the likes of Richarlison and Ivan Perisic, but one player on whom they missed out was Maddison.
The 25-year-old was linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but any such transfer failed to materialise and he remained at Leicester.
Maddison has continued to be a shining light for the Foxes this season, scoring three times in the Premier League despite them propping up the table.
The Latest: Journalist talks up Maddison for Spurs
Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke talked up the idea of seeing the English playmaker in a Spurs shirt. He said:
“I think probably a piece that’s missing in that Tottenham midfield is an attacking midfielder, they seem to have got defensive midfielders in there right now with [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Rodrigo] Bentancur.
“So, maybe Maddison could fill the void there if they are looking to bring in somebody attacking, but I’m sure if he becomes available, it wouldn’t just be Tottenham interested.”

The Verdict: Could be what Spurs need
Proven in the Premier League over a number of years, Maddison feels like he belongs at a higher level than Leicester now, and he and Tottenham could prove to be a match made in heaven if a January or summer deal goes through.
Many of Antonio Conte’s current midfielders are more defensive-minded, such as the aforementioned Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Rodrigo Bentancur, and the Foxes star would provide more of a spark behind the Spurs front three.
Maddison has even been described as ‘world-class’ by Gareth Southgate in the past, and he could be ready for that big move which sees him go up another significant level.
